01 Situation
A previous GAIN and Proportion Global collaboration revealed major gaps in how organisations in the Global South share knowledge and co-innovate on nutrition challenges. That project, which involved extensive field research, ideation and prototyping, showed the need for a dedicated digital platform that could sustain collaboration beyond time-bound initiatives.
02 Assignment
Proportion Global was commissioned to build this next-stage co-innovation platform. The task was to translate validated prototypes into a functioning product that would be attractive and valuable to a wide range of stakeholders, each with different needs and use cases.
03 Approach
To ensure broad relevance and shared ownership, Proportion Global engaged multiple organisations directly in the design process: GrowthAfrica, CorpsAfrica, Challenge Works, KIT Institute and Accenture. Their involvement shaped platform features, user journeys and branding so that the identity and experience resonated across sectors and regions. Co-creation also informed a multi-stakeholder governance model that supports future shared stewardship.
04 Result
The Innovators Team platform emerged as a co-owned, multi-stakeholder initiative designed to host challenges, enable cross-sector collaboration and preserve learning across programmes. Built on deep research and collective design, it now serves as a shared digital backbone for organisations that want to solve challenges online. GAIN uses the platform to support governments in innovating social protection programs.
