Prototype a Climate Resilient Seed Testing and Distribution Program In Pakistan and Syria.
01 Situation
Building on foundational research in Northeast Syria and Pakistan, IRC identified urgent climate-related challenges affecting seed systems and farmer livelihoods. Community-level seed sharing faced systemic barriers—from low trust in new seed varieties to limited access for women. To move from insights to implementation, a human-centered, behaviorally informed design approach was essential.
02 Assignment
The task was to synthesize existing research into actionable insights and rapidly prototype inclusive, scalable interventions. Key deliverables included designing seed testing cycles, recognizable seed labeling, targeted communication materials for women farmers, storage solutions, and a comprehensive scale-up playbook.
03 Approach
The process began with internal alignment and synthesis of prior research. In Pakistan, stakeholder workshops deepened local relevance, followed by prototype development—voice-note messaging, packaging sketches, and scenario experiments. Collaborative ideation sessions ensured ecosystem alignment. Field testing involved farmers in diverse contexts, refining prototypes through co-creation, feedback loops, and behavioral trials.
04 Result
A robust framework emerged for the Farmer Seed Network—tested and co-developed with users—laying the groundwork for trust-based seed distribution and inclusive agricultural transformation.
